Communications:

Chairman’s Report: Mark Argyelan

Acknowledged receipt of another email from former Kankakee Mayor Wells-Armstrong. Mr. Argyelan deferred to Mr. Sims to determine the next step, if any. Mr. Sims stated that we had responded with our position after the first email and that there is no need for additional communication.

Managing Director’s Report: Siron Sims

Last night, IDOT released a call for projects with $100 million available statewide. We will submit an application after discussion with Mandy and Cortney.

Cortney is currently attending procurement training in Cincinnati. The training is focused on land acquisition.

Operations Report:

Malcom Williams reported that we have 52 operators, 50 of which are available. We have 5 more in training.

We had 1 non-preventable and 2 preventable accidents.

Ken Munjoy reported that August ridership this year was 51,710, compared to 52,541 last year. Year-to-date, ridership is up 1.2% from last year.

CCS and Transit Officers transported 56 people in August.

Complaints/Comments: Ken Munjoy

We had only 5 complaints in the last 4 weeks. Two were valid and 3 were not valid. We also had 1 compliment.

Board Report:

David Hinderliter asked if high gas prices affect our ridership. Yes, we generally notice an increase in ridership when gas prices spike. Our current advertising campaign illustrates the cost savings of riding our buses versus buying gasoline.

New Business

A forklift is needed for convenience, efficiency, and safety. The cost is $49,083, which includes training. The cost of a forklift was added to our Cares Act grant. Jerry Pearce made a motion to authorize the purchase. The motion was seconded by David Hinderliter and approved unanimously with a roll call vote.

Planning Study

Via added another microtransit zone in Kankakee to their recommendations, possibly replacing routes 12 and 14. We will make route and service decisions after receiving their final report.
