Rider's Tips
When Riding Metro DO:
- Place your exact fare in the fare box next to the driver. (The driver cannot make change.)
- Do be courteous to all riders.
- Fold strollers, 2-wheel shopping carts & walking aids to keep the aisle clear. (Limit one per person)
- Standing is permitted, but move as far back in the bus as possible to provide room for other passengers.
- Wear proper apparel when riding Metro. Everyone must
wear shoes and a shirt.

When Riding Metro DO NOT:
- Smoke, eat or drink.
- Talk to the driver while the bus is in motion.
- Bring pets on board Metro, EXCEPT service animals trained to assist persons with disabilities.
Getting Off The Bus:
- As bus approaches your destination, pull the bell cord above the windows to signal the driver.
- Remain seated until the bus has stopped moving.
- After exiting, stand to the side of the road or on the sidewalk until the bus has pulled away. For your safety, please do not cross in front of the bus.
Bike Racks:
view video clip on how to use the bike rack.)
River Valley Metro's entire bus fleet is equipped with bike racks.
It is easy to load and unload your bike just...lower...lift...and
latch!
Loading Your Bike:
- Lower - Squeeze the handle & pull down to release the folded bike rack.
- Lift - Lift your bike onto the bike rack, fitting wheels into the slots. Front wheel slots are labeled. Load your bike in the rack nearest the bus first, if vacant.
- Latch - Pull and release the support arm over the top of the front tire. Make sure the support arm is resting on the tire, not the fender or the frame.
- Board the bus.
Unloading Your Bike:
-
Before exiting, notify operator you will be removing your bike.
-
Pull the support arm off of the tire. Move the support arm down & out of the way. Lift your bike out of the rack.
-
Return the rack to the upright position if it is empty.
-
Move quickly to the curb.
