The partner agencies of the Metro Centre announce they have joined with the charitable organization, Freedom Calls Foundation, to help our service men and women serving in Iraq and Kuwait keep in contact with their families back in the states.  The Kankakee Regional Chamber, River Valley Metro, J & J General Contracting, River Valley Digital Blue Prints and Robinson Engineering are providing free 30 minute video conferences with families and their loved ones serving in Iraq and Kuwait.

David Hinderliter, President & CEO of the Kankakee Regional Chamber is excited to provide this opportunity.  "We are pleased to have the technology available for families to be able to speak face-to-face with their loved ones in Iraq and Kuwait." stated Hinderliter.  "Just being able to see the person on the other end of the line is a blessing and we are glad to provide this to our soldiers and their families.  Freedom calls has been touted as being the single greatest boost to morale for the troops in the past 25 years."

Currently there are 5 bases in Iraq capable of video conferencing. These bases are Camp Taji, Camp Fallujah, Camp Taqaddum, Al Asad Airbase and Camp Victory. The one camp is Kuwait is Camp Arifjan. If you wish to set up a 30 minute video conference please contact the Metro Centre at (815) 935-1403 or email info@rivervalleymetro.com and request a Freedom Call. You will need to provide specific information on the soldier and yourself. Once all information is gathered, the Metro Centre will forward the request on to the Freedom Calls Foundation to the schedule the airtime for the the video conference.  The soldier must provide 3 days and times that the soldier is available for the conference.  Freedom Calls may not be able to accommodate the soldier's first choice.  Once airtime is scheduled, the Metro Centre will contact the family with the specifics.

Hinderliter stressed, "This is just one more way we can give back to the men and women that are serving in the military and insuring our freedom.  We are proud to be a part of this program."

If you have questions on how to set up a video conference, please call (815) 935-1403 or email info@rivervalleymetro.com.
